Xabier deBeristain Humphrey:
Xabier is one of the most highly regarded sports intermediaries in the industry. He has played in the highly acclaimed Athletic Bilbao Academy alongside the likes of Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso, and has supported a wide range of football players, including Robert Pires (Arsenal), Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea), Danny Simpson (Leicester City), and more. Xabier is also a qualified sports and commercial sector lawyer, where he represents leading law firms Clifford Chance LLP and Allen & Overy; making him a highly prized asset for any sportsperson to have by their side!
Les Ferdinand, ranked as the eighth highest scorer in the Premier League with 149 goals to his name, is the current football coach and Director of Football at his former club Queens Park Rangers. During his playing career, he was former striker of QPR, Beşiktaş, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Leicester City, Bolton Wanderers, Reading and Watford.
Paul McVeigh is a former Northern Ireland international footballer who played in the English Leagues for Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich, Burnley and Luton. After 16 years at the top of his game as a Premier League footballer, he is now football’s No.1 keynote speaker, taking everything he has learnt across his career and developing them into strategies for success for a variety of different businesses.
What will I learn on the Programme?
The programme covers how to effectively work with player’s and how to provide a professional service to them, discussed across four key sections:
- Football Intermediary Certificate:
The football certificate element is 100% online and made-up of 16 training modules that are designed to equip you with everything you need to know to become a confident and responsible football intermediary. You will have 12 months access to the interactive study materials, (made up of engaging animations, detailed explanations and quizzes), where you are free to work through them at your own pace with 24/7 access.
- Exclusive Access Event:
This event is your opportunity to make a name for yourself, learn from and network with other aspiring football intermediaries from the course. You will gain insider information directly from Xabier deBeristain Humphrey, Les Ferdinand and Paul McVeigh who will share with you their personal experiences and mistakes they learnt from, discuss how to start representing players, provide insight on the psychology side of the job, as well as answer any questions you may have. On top of this, you will have the option to submit a job application to Xabier himself for the chance to join his ever-growing global team!
- Advanced Development:
Alongside your exclusive study materials, you will also be invited to attend regular webinars that will cover extensive topics and provide you with the opportunity to ask questions about the course, your career or the industry itself. Who is this course for?
There are no prerequisites to enrol onto the programme, however it is advantageous if you are a confident communicator, good negotiator and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Before an industry deregulation in 2015, in order to become a football agent, you were required to pay £100,000 in indemnity insurance and sit through a profoundly tough football agent course. Thankfully, the rules have now changed, making it easier for anyone, anywhere around the world to access the industry. The new requirements for earning a career as a football intermediary require you to meet the criteria of your local FA. For England, this includes:
- Paying a (£500+VAT) registration fee
- Successfully complete a multiple-choice code of practice assessment
- Pass a DBS check

When and where is the course held?
